1 〔使わずにおく〕 leave 《sth》 (unused); keep 《some money》 back [in reserve]; keep 《some space for dessert》; save 《some food》; reserve 《funds for emergencies》; 〔相続させる〕 leave 《property to a child》; 〔処理せずにおく〕 leave (undone); leave 《the room》 as 《it》 is; leave 《one's work, one's food》 untouched; leave 《one's dinner》 uneaten.

●パンを半分残す 〔食べられずに〕 leave half one's bread (uneaten); do not eat all one's bread; only eat half a slice; 〔食べずに〕 keep [leave, put aside] half one's bread 《for tomorrow》
